The New Testament gives us helpful principles that guide how we think about and prayerfully consider giving to support the ministry.
Our giving should be:
Sacrificial – 2 Cor 8:2-3 Our giving should be sacrificial, it should cost us something.
Purposeful – 2 Cor 9:7 “Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart.”
Not Grudgingly – 2 Cor 9:7 It is a privilege to support the gospel mission as Christ builds His church on earth! God loves a cheerful giver.
Regular (1 Cor 16:2) – “On the first day of every week…” – Regular, planned, purposeful.
Proportional – 1 Cor 16:2 “as God has prospered them they gave” We give according to the financial prosperity God has individually blessed us with.
Secretly – Matt 6:2-4 We do not give for personal recognition! We give to honor the Lord.
